Our contemporary approach to learning, sees our students undertake specific investigations that build knowledge of given topics while at the same time expanding their ability to gather, process and make thoughtful use of information.
Investigations aim to equip the students to be active participants in their world and build a deeper understanding and use of strategies and thinking tools. Investigations allow students to explore teacher generated provocations designed to stimulate key learning areas such as oral and written language, fine and gross motor, social interactions and mathematical understandings. In addition to this the open nature of investigations allows students the opportunity to develop their creative and critical thinking skills as well as risk taking in a safe environment.
As students move in to the middle and senior school the focus for this time shifts from small scale investigations to ongoing projects built around their passions, and the curriculum. Students have an opportunity to engage with the world around them, and make a difference. Projects can range from information reports on particular topics to environmental and social calls to action.
